Is a string quartet right for your venue ?

The string quartet is the first thing that comes to most people’s minds when you mention the word ‘string ensemble’ or ‘string entertainment’.  However, this doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for you – there are lots of lovely stringy choices to choose between!

A string quartet is a great choice if you have the space and budget and want to have a wide range of repertoire to choose from.  It does need around 3×2 metres of performance space so if you haven’t got this you may want to consider the trio or duo.

The duo has a fantastic classical repertoire so if you’re short on space and have a more modest budget this is a lovely choice. It’s also a great choice if you’re having a smaller gathering and don’t want the music to over-power the room.

Our most booked ensemble is The Apollo Strings Trio.  Many clients first enquire about the string quartet but when they hear the string trio and see their fantastic repertoire they decide this is the best option for them. It is a great choice if you can’t decide between all the wonderful options and it takes up less space and will leave you with a few more pennies in your pocket to put towards that all-important wedding budget!
