Hidden gems – different wedding music selections

Monday, December 3 2018

With so much music to choose from it’s tough to decide on which pieces to pick for your wedding ceremony but Apollo Strings are always happy to take on board your thoughts and help you find the perfect pieces of music for your big day.

There are of course the obvious choices; Pachelbel’s Canon, Wedding March etc. but there are also some stunning pieces that many clients have never heard of before. There’s nothing wrong with opting for the most common choices but if you want to go slightly off the beaten track then here are our top six hidden gems:

Intermezzo Sinfonico from Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni

This is a serene and atmospheric piece of music that is hard not to fall in love with when you first hear it.

The Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso by Morricone

Goose bumps, tears, wobbly chins at the ready – this is beautiful piece of music that is the perfect accompaniment to either a civil or church ceremony.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: Romanza by Mozart

Everyone knows the first movement but this movement is often over shadowed and forgotten about for that reason. It’s a beautiful and uplifting movement not to be overlooked.

Pure Imagination from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

I think many people would assume that music from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would be wholly inappropriate wedding music but trust me, this is magical! As soon as you hear it you’ll fall in love with how romantic this piece of music is.

The Gadfly by Shostakovich

If you know your Shostakovich you’ll know this is exactly stereotypical of his style. With a souring violin melody this piece is stunning and elegant – a perfect combination for any ceremony.

Somewhere Out There from An American Tail by James Horner

Another lesser-known movie theme not to be forgotten about. This is a sweet piece of music that the Apollo Strings Quartet enjoyed recording a few years ago – have a listen on line and see if it’s for you!
