10 most popular music selections for weddings

Wednesday, May 29 2019

Apollo Strings have a fantastic selection of music to choose from but there are a few favourites that get requested over and over again. And why not, they’re great!

1.     Pachelbel’s Canon

This is a timeless piece of music that suits a wedding down to the ground. It’s graceful, elegant, gentle and goose-bump inducing! Also, if you listen to it from the beginning it gets more and more complex and beautiful as it goes on which lends itself perfectly to walking down the aisle!

2.     Intermezzo Sinfonico, Mascagni

Wow – this one’s a tearjerker, you’ve been warned! There’s something magical about this piece that really tugs at the heartstrings. It’s a fantastic piece to walk down the aisle to as it’s not too long but it packs a punch in the few minutes it does last!

3.     Wedding March, Wagner

The classic choice that you can’t go wrong with – there will be no mistaking when the bride’s arrived with this one! It’s not the most romantic piece of music but it’s certainly symbolic of the bride’s entrance and if you’re not one for too much soppiness this could be the right choice for you.

4.     A Thousand Years, Christina Perri

This piece works beautifully both for the processional and for the signing. It’s reflective, feminine and romantic.

5.     What a Wonderful World, Weiss

This old smoothie always goes down well. It’s such a cuddly old classic and there’s something wonderfully nostalgic about it that will have everyone reflecting upon the greatness of love on your big day!

6.     Air on the G String, Bach

Air on the G String is a very traditional choice for weddings and I think it works best during the signing. It’s at this point that you want your guests to be able to reflect upon the amazing moment they’ve just witnessed and this is the perfect, gentle accompaniment to such thoughts.

7.     Happy, Pharell Williams

There’s not much that needs to be said about this song – it just makes everyone HAPPY! A perfect choice of music to congratulate the newly weds at the end of the ceremony.

8.     All You Need is Love, Beatles

This piece never fails to put a big smile on everyone’s faces as the newly weds leave the ceremony. The title says it all really!

9.     Hornpipe in D, Handel

This is a wonderfully regal piece of music that sounds very official and grand! If you want to make a traditional statement then this is a great choice!

10. It Don’t Mean a Thing if You Ain’t Got That Swing, Ellington

The Apollo Strings Quartet had a great time recording this classic as it’s such a fun, upbeat piece of music to play. Guaranteed to get toes tapping as you leave your ceremony and prepare for a day of celebrations!
